APTC Union Bug on Every Piece

About Mitchell

Two Generations of Velascos. Sixty-Five Years of Printing California.

Mitchell Printing & Mailers has been running presses out of Boyle Heights since 1960. Two generations of the Velasco family have personally overseen every campaign mailer, every union flyer, every door hanger that’s left our shop.

We’re a fully unionized print house and a longtime member of the Southern California Allied Printing Trades Council. Every piece we deliver can carry the APTC union bug — the credential that endorsed California campaigns, labor organizations, and government agencies require on their printed materials.

The bug is the entry ticket. What keeps campaigns coming back across cycles is simpler: we answer the phone, we hit the deadline, and if a job leaves our shop less than perfect, we make it right. Sixty-five years of repeat clients across Los Angeles, Long Beach, Pasadena, the Inland Empire, and Orange County is the only credential that really matters.

Mail Drop Coming Up?

Mail Drop Deadline Coming Up? Let's Talk.

Whether it’s 50,000 slate mailers for a city council race or a rush run of door hangers before GOTV week — call us before you’re in trouble. We’ve been answering that call since 1960.

Why California Campaigns Choose Mitchell

Built for Campaign Tempo. Backed by Union Standards.

Political work has its own rhythm: filing deadlines, mail drop windows, GOTV crunch, debate-night flyers that needed to be at the venue yesterday. Mitchell was built around that rhythm. We’re not a commercial shop that takes campaign work on the side — campaign printing is the muscle we’ve trained for sixty-five years.

Full Campaign Arsenal, One Shop

Slate mailers, door hangers, yard signs, walk pieces, palm cards, push cards, buttons, t-shirts, bumper stickers, event banners — produced under one roof on our Boyle Heights floor. One vendor, one invoice, one accountability line.

APTC Union Bug, Every Piece

Every job that leaves our shop can carry the Allied Printing Trades Council label — the credential required by most endorsed California campaigns, labor PACs, and union-affiliated committees. No add-on, no extra fee. It's how we print.

Same-Day & Overnight Rush

Campaign emergencies don't wait. We rush jobs daily without cutting union quality or skipping the bug. Call us before the deadline becomes a crisis — we'll tell you straight whether we can hit it.

In-House Graphic Design

File not press-ready? Our design team gets it there. No artwork at all? Charles Sparks, our Director of Printing Operations, builds it from scratch to our 300 DPI standards.

Direct Line to the Owner

You're not going through a sales rep, a call center, or a project manager three layers deep. You're talking to a Velasco. That's been the standard since 1960 and it's not changing.

Our Services

Door Hangers, Palm Cards & Walk Pieces

The literature your field team puts in voters' hands. Door hangers, palm cards, push cards, GOTV literature, multilingual pieces, volunteer kits. Printed union, packaged for precinct walks.

Yard Signs & Banners

Corrugated yard signs, H-stakes, large-format vinyl banners for rallies and endorsement events, event signage for fundraisers. Sizes, quantities, and turnaround timed to your launch and GOTV windows.

Buttons, T-Shirts & Bumper Stickers

The merch that puts your name in front of voters and rewards your volunteers. Union-printed buttons, campaign tees, bumper stickers, lapel pins. Volunteer kits ready when your field team is.

Same-Day & Rush Printing

Hearing tomorrow? Mailer that has to drop Friday? Event signage needed yesterday? We rush daily. Call (213) 623-1277 with your deadline first — we work back from there.

Labor & Nonprofit Printing

Mitchell is the go-to APTC printer for Southern California labor unions, building trades councils, Democratic clubs, nonprofits, and community organizations. We know the compliance requirements. We know the bug placement. You don't have to explain it twice.

The Union Bug

Why the APTC Bug Matters on Your Mail

If you’re running an endorsed campaign in California — or any campaign with labor backing, building trades support, or Democratic club endorsement — your printed materials almost certainly need the Allied Printing Trades Council union bug. Many endorsements require it. Mitchell carries it on every piece we produce.

What that bug means in practice: your work was printed in a fully unionized shop by workers earning fair wages under safe conditions. For labor-aligned voters and union households across Southern California, it’s a signal that your campaign’s values match its vendors. For your endorsing organizations, it’s a compliance line item you can’t skip.

We’ve carried the APTC label for decades. Mitchell is a union house, end to end — not a commercial shop that “can put a bug on it.”

What Our Clients Say

Sixty-Five Years of Repeat Customers

Campaign managers, communications directors, and field staff who’ve been bringing our number from one cycle to the next. Here’s what some of them say.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Mitchell has been our union printer for more campaign cycles than I can count. APTC bug is non-negotiable for our endorsements, and Mitchell’s quality has never failed us. Fast, professional, and they answer the phone — which you’d think would be a low bar, but ask anyone who’s run a campaign.

Campaign Manager, Los Angeles

We require everything printed union. Mitchell is one of the few shops in LA that genuinely understands the requirement, not just checks the box. The Velasco family runs a tight operation.

David T.

Communications Director, Local Union LA

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

We needed 5,000 mailers out the door in 48 hours for community outreach. Mitchell came through — quality, price, even helped get our file press-ready the same morning. That’s why we keep coming back.
